Happy New Year!

Only and hour and a half left in 2005. I’m not going to stay up until midnight, though (I hope). I didn’t get much sleep at all last night, and I’m so tired. My jaw usually starts hurting about the time I drift off, but I hope it doesn’t tonight. I haven’t had much trouble with it today, so maybe I’ll get lucky.

I started on Kate last night, and got a good portion of her butt done before I decided that I hated the color and frogged it. I went out and bought some more yarn today, but I just haven’t gotten around to casting on. I really need to get to work on that tomorrow, I only have a week to get it done!

FO’s in action!

This is the amulet bag I made for Gracie. She loves it, and has worn it ever since she opened it. I just haven’t gotten around to getting a better picture.

“Look, Mommy! The spider can fly!” This is the Love Bug, but for some reason Arien thinks it’s a spider.

And finally, Arien’s hat and keyhole scarf. When this picture was taken we were getting ready to ride her new bicycle for the first time.

I haven’t managed to get a picture of Gracie in her hat and scarf yet. I can’t keep them on her long enough!

Agony

A couple of weeks ago, I went to my doctor with what I though was an ear infection. He said it might be a little infected, but couldn’t see anything. I took the medicine he gave me, and it got better for about a week. Then, it started hurting again. Only this time I could tell that the pain wasn’t in my ear, it was in my tempromandibular joint. The pain got so bad it was making my teeth and my head hurt, and nothing would help it.

I couldn’t get an appointment with a dentist until Jan. 11, and I wouldn’t be able to see my doc until Tuesday, but I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I went to the ER. After about a million x-rays and just as many questions, they still couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong. They decided it was probably TMJ, and sent me home with Lortab and Naproxen, and instructions to follow up with my regular doc.

The meds have helped a lot. I haven’t gotten much sleep in the last week, but I was able to take a 3 hour nap this afternoon, so I feel much better. My head and teeth aren’t huring anymore, but I still have a little pain in my jaw. Rubbing Icy Hot on it helps, though. I’m such a whimp when it comes to pain, and I hope I can get this taken care of.

Love Bug

I finished the Love Bug, yay! This was my first attemp at amigurumi, and though I could’ve done a better job (I rushed. I need to remember not to do that.), I’m still proud of him.

Now he’s all wrapped up under the tree, ready for Arien to open him in the morning. I had to take pictures before she gets him though. She’ll probably end up destroying him.

I haven’t made much more progress on my stepmom’s scarf. I wanted her to have something from me to open when we did gifts this evening, though. I thought about putting the scarf on a stitch holder and wrapping as-is, but I decided against that. Instead I wrote “I owe you one lace scarf” on the back of the yarn ball band and wrapped it up.

And now it’s time for bed. The kids will more than likely be up at the crack of dawn, and I need to start cooking very early.

2 More Days

I already know I’m not going to finish all of my gifts in time for Christmas. The G pillow will be finished – I only have to stuff it and finish sewing it up. I also started a Love Bug from Roxycraft this morning, and all I have left to do on it is to sew on the wings and legs.

My stepmom’s scarf will probably end up being put on a stitch holder and wrapped as is, with the promise to finish it asap. I decided against the dayflower scarf, and came up with my own pattern. It’s really easy, and I’ve done 10 repeats so far, but I’ve just got so much going on for the next two days that I know I won’t get it done. Unless by some miracle I learn to knit about 10 times faster than I do now.

I’ll be cleaning most of the day tomorrow. We’ve been neglecting the house all week long, and it’s a wreck. I may have to go shopping with my stepmom, too. She wants to buy Gracie a long coat for Christmas, but she’s not sure where to find one, and I know where all of the good stores are

We’re having dinner here on Christmas Eve, and then at my stepdad’s house on Christmas Day. I volunteered to cook dinner for my stepdad and brother this year. We’ve always gone to my grandmother’s house on Christmas, but she’s decided that there won’t be a Christmas this year because my mom died (granny has 4 other kids, 8 grandkids, and 4 great-grandkids, so I just don’t understand why she’s doing that), and they don’t have anywhere to go. I still have a little shopping left to do for that, and then all of the cooking.

This is going to be a very busy weekend, so if I don’t get the chance to post again – Merry Christmas to everyone!

I actually slept!

Well, passed out is more like it. Arien had a bad dream, so I laid down in my bed with her, and that’s the last thing I remember. I woke up at 7 AM feeling all refreshed and ready to go!

The girls just now woke up, so I’m off to make breakfast. Bacon and eggs sounds really good right now…

The new meds experience

Right after I posted about having a good night’s sleep last night, my new meds kicked in. My doc told me that it would probably make me sleepy, and that’s why I have to take it before bedtime – boy was he wrong! I was wide awake. Actually, I think I was more awake than I’ve ever been. It was like I’d taken a handful of diet pills. I had to work really hard at going to sleep, which I finally managed at about 3:00. I woke up a little after 5 (AM), and I’ve been up since.

I’ve felt really good all day. I’ve been so happy, and I’m hardly ever truly happy. I’ve been cleaning, and crocheting, and Crafty, and a little bit of everthing else. I am tired, though, but I don’t think I’m going to be able to sleep any more than I did last night. My mind is still racing, and I want to get up and do something. Hopefully, I’ll get used to all of this and will eventually be able to get some sleep. If not, I’ll have to talk to my doc about taking it in the morning or something.

I finished Gracie’s hat and made her a wavy scarf from the same yarn (The one from the cover of the Fall 2005 Interweave Crochet). Then, I started a Dayflower Lace Scarf for my stepmom. I’m using Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in black. I’ve gotten almost through my first pattern repeat, after having to frog it once, but I’ve ended up screwing it up again. I really hope I can fix it without having to frog it, though. Somehow I managed to skip a row of the chart, so it was all screwed up. I tinked a couple of rows before I realized what I had done, but by then I had managed to screw up a few stitches. I was pretty pissed at myself, and I had to put it down for the night. I just can’t concentrate well enough for something like that at the moment.
