Rip it! Rip it good!

The time has come to say good-bye to a couple of projects that I’m never going to finish.

First off is the Pomatomus sock. I didn’t touch it for about 3 months, and I just couldn’t get into it when I picked it up again. I can think of so many other patterns worthy of that beautiful yarn. It’ll probably take the least amount of time to frog, so I’ll start with it.

Then there’s the Cashmerino scarf that I was knitting for my stepmom. I screwed it up royally and then forgot about it for a while. I was going to have to rip back at least one pattern repeat, so I might as well frog it all and start something else.

Speaking of starting something else – I started on a pair of baby socks for my niece last night while I was doing laundry. I’m using Koigu in shades of purple, and I’m planning on knitting a hat to match. I say I’m planning to, but given my record of finished objects lately (almost none), I’m not so sure I’ll get around to it. I guess I’ve just been in a slump lately. I need to sit down and make myself finish something so I can get back on track.

I have made good progress on my German flag sock, though. I’ve knit the heel and about 1 1/2 – 2 inches on the leg. I’ll post a picture later, but for now  I’m off to frog!

This is Gracie’s first season as a Cheerleader, and today was the kick-off jamboree. It was so hot, but she had a blast anyway. She has decided that cheerleading is her “thing”, and she lives for practice. I’m glad she’s found something that she really loves.

An in-progress pomatomus sock that I haven’t touched in about 3 months. I’m half-way through the gusset. The yarn was dyed just for me by All Things Heather. I think it’s my most favorite yarn ever!

My German Flag sock. I love all things German, so I just had to get this yarn. I have about an inch to knit before I start the heel.

And that’s it for today. I’m on dail-up, so It’d probably take a year to upload all of the pictures I took today. Ugh. I miss my DSL!

Oh, Crap

Well, I haven’t gotten the dishes washed yet. In my defense, though, neither have my brother or cousin who have been staying here. They are the ones who dirited all of the dishes. My kids stayed with my dad and stepmom friday night, and I worked until 3 AM, but my brother and cousin were here. And they cooked 3 meals. Three large meals in the span of 9 hours, and another yesterday, and they didn’t clean a thing. I’m thinking of putting locks on the cabinet and fridge and not letting them eat unless they start cleaning up after themselves. This is getting old.

I haven’t went grocery shopping either, but I’m going to do that as soon as I post this. It was just so hot today, and the grocery store across the street closed last month, and I didn’t feel like driving all the way to Wal – Mart. Yeah, I’m lazy, but weren’t Sundays made to be lazy? Besides, I hate Wal-Mart with a passion.

Where has the day gone?

I actually have the weekend off. That almost never happens. And I had such big plans for today. I was going to clean the kitchen, scrub the floor, work on a few craft projects, and maybe even clean my room. How much of that did I get done? None.

I didn’t get home from work until 3:00 this morning, and I didn’t get to bed until after four. I ended up sleeping until 1 PM! And that apparently wasn’t enough – I’ve been drowsy all day. I did get a few things done. I washed clothes (have to go to my dad’s for that. I’m in need of a washer and dryer!), I picked up a little and took the garbage out, and I finished up the arms and legs for my amigurumi thing. So, yeah, I pretty much wasted the day. And it’s not looking like I’ll get much accomplished tomorrow, either. I’m going to get up early and go grocery shopping, go to church, have dinner at my dad’s (Gracie’s birthday dinner. Her b-day is Tuesday, but we all have to work), and probably Youth Group after that (I’m one of the leaders). It’s going to be a full day, but maybe I can get a little cleaning done tomorrow night. I hope!
