Guess what we bought

We being my roommate April and myself.

New furniture. Brand spanking new, never been in anyone else’s house before furniture! I’m so excited I can barely contain myself. Everything I have in my living room now is second hand. I hate my ugly, orange and brown 1970’s couch, but it will soon be replaced by a sleek new black leather couch and matching love seat. We also bought new tables, lamps, and an area rug. It’s going to be “off the chain” as April put it.

Everything is supposed to be delivered Tuesday. I’m also switching bedrooms with my kids. They’re so cramped in that little room, so I’m going to give them my larger one. I should’ve done that to begin with, but I wanted to keep the walk-in closet all to myself. I’ve got so much to do this weekend, and I have to work to. Ugh. But right now I need to try and get some sleep. I have to be at work at 10 AM, but I didn’t leave work tonight until 1:30. I hate it when they schedule me like that.

lost and found

I’ve finally started knitting again. I don’t know why I stopped, really. I guess I was too worried about spending time with my (former) guy friend to do anything else. I really have missed my knitting, though.

I finally got to stop by my lys about a month ago (at 40 miles away it’s not really local, but it’s the closest to me), and I picked up a few skeins of Kureyon and a skein of some really pretty sock yarn that I can’t remember the name of at the moment. I started a bag, and have finished everything but the handles. It’s going to be really pretty, I think, once it’s done.

You know, I really need to get a camera (I had to sell mine when I moved – long story). This would be the perfect time to post a picture.

Okay, back to the story.

This morning, I decided that I wanted to start working on my embossed leaves again. (ravelry link) I haven’t touched them since I moved, and I have no idea where the project bag that holds them is. So, I was going through some boxes that have never been unpacked (I’ve been here for 8 months. Should’ve been done a long, long time ago) and I found my ID. It’s been lost for like the last 6 months. I have looked everywhere for that damn thing. But there it was, just sitting among all the junk in that box. I’ve been using my old one that expired in 05. You know, some places (like Wal-Mart. bastards) won’t sell you cigarettes or anything else that requires ID if it’s expired. I was planning on getting a replacement soon, but now I don’t have to. One less thing I have to worry about.

my head is killing me

The electrician finally came this morning. He said, “I’m here to look at your hot water heater.” (It bugs the crap out of me when people call it a hot water heater. It’s just a water heater. If the water was hot it wouldn’t need to be heated.) I told him that the water heater wasn’t the problem, he shouldn’t even bother checking it. I already knew the problem was with the meter base, I just needed it fixed. Of course, he checked it anyway and realized that I was right.

He had to call someone from the electric co-op to come out. While he was waiting for the guy, he stood in my living room talking to me and my roommate, April. And I had a seizure. April said he freaked out and said, “Oh my god! What’s happening? I’m going to call the police!” She finally convinced him that he didn’t need to, and by the time I recovered enough to realize what was going on he was already outside working.

I’m so glad we finally got this stuff fixed. We have hot water now, and the stove works, and all the outlets work. It’s just great.

My head has been hurting all day because of the seizure, made even worse because I hit it on the drink machine at work. I wasn’t really paying attention to how close I was to it, and I bent over to pick something up and WHAM! I also closed the door of the walk-in cooler on my fingers tonight. Now they’re all bruised and a little swollen. This just hasn’t been my day. I think I’m just going to go lie in bed and knit on my bag a bit then go to sleep.

Oh, no. I just noticed that it’s lightning. I guess that means there’s a storm coming. Hopefully I’ll be dead to the world before it starts. I’ve never been able to sleep during a storm.
